We say this every year, but it is hard to believe that the holiday season is already here. Is your house ready to host family and friends for Christmas or New Years? Check with Maggie Eckler and her team about scheduling a clean before the holiday, but spots are filling up quick! In case you missed us this round and have a mother-in-law who inspects the house with her white gloves here are some tips to clean up before the masses arrive.

Since you’ll be cooking in the kitchen primarily, focus on the other high traffic areas you won’t be constantly cleaning in. Start with any rooms your guests will frequent, like the bathrooms. Stock up the toilet paper and extra hand towels so your guests don’t have to come bother you to restock the room. A candle or potpourri also isn’t a terrible idea for all of those bathroom trips. Designate someone in the family to check on the bathroom occasionally throughout the day to make sure things are still neat and tidy.

The family room/living room will also endure a lot of traffic that day. Depending on your family tradition, the Thanksgiving parade or football game may be on while meal preparations are being made. Before people come over, clean off the front of your tv with a rag and cleaning solution that is ok for your tv, make sure you check! Fluff up those pillows, add a couple throw blankets and you’re all set!

Last but not least, your entry ways. Now is a great time to set up a place for people to set their shoes (if you’re that kind of person) and coats. Having a towel or drip pan down is also nice to keep dirt in its place. Make sure you are disinfecting the door handles in your home before and after guests visit so you keep everyone healthy.

Our best advice is to try not to stress too much about the cleanliness of your home, there is enough to worry about with visitors and preparing a huge meal. Get the touch points throughout your house and focus on making it about special time with family.
