We live in an age where there are endless small kitchen appliances like blenders, air fryers, espresso machines, and more. We’re going to break down how to clean 5 of the most common ones that might be living in your home. It goes without saying that each of these electric devices need to be unplugged before cleaning.
Blender
Most of the blenders out there disconnect and detach with removable pieces. Consulting your appliance’s manual will be helpful when figuring out what pieces come apart and where. You can also wipe everything down by hand with a clean cloth dampened with soap and water. Make sure everything dries before reassembling and using.
Coffee maker
Depending on the kind of coffee you drink will determine how you need to clean the machine. If you have a drip coffeemaker, you can run the coffee maker with equal parts water and vinegar. If your pot has hard water stains, you can try soaking ice, kosher salt, and vinegar in the bottom. Again, consult your manual on specific cleaning instructions and how to remove any parts.
Stand mixer
It is important that you wipe down your mixer after each time you use it. Periodically between uses, be sure to give it a deep clean. Wash the beaters by hand and polish the base with a damp cloth or sponge. Take a look at the vent and loosen any dirt with a toothpick and wipe clean.
Toaster
When is the last time you took out the crumb tray in your toaster?
Take that out and shake the remnants into the trash or sink. You also will want to tip the toaster upside down and give it a little shake to dislodge any crumbs stuck in there. Handwash the tray and wipe down the outside with a clean cloth dampened with warm water and soap. Make sure the whole thing is dry before reinserting the crumb tray and using the toaster again.
Air fryer
This is another one where consulting the manual before cleaning is recommended.
Take out the removable pieces and hand wash them with dish soap, water, and a sponge. You can soak them to remove any stuck-on food and use a toothpick to remove anything trapped in the grates.
