Changing air filters

Changing your air filters not only extends the life of the air purifier, but also helps keep the hair, dirt and dust at bay for longer. Reader, as we were writing this we had to pause and go clean out our own air filters, and it was not pretty. Here’s what can happen if you don’t change them often: they can get clogged with dirt and hair and stop working.

Here are a few steps to follow when changing your air filters out. Depending on the type of machine you have will depend on how you can clean your air filters. Some devices have several layers of filters, some are washable and some aren’t.

You want to take out the washable parts and clean them gently with dawn dish soap and warm water. Using a soft sponge, scrub away the grime that has built up. You’ll want to let them dry completely before putting them back in your machine to avoid any damage. If you have a replaceable filter, change that out every 3-6 months depending on how dusty your house may get.

It is also a good time to change out your furnace filter before you start using the air conditioning more and more. These should be replaced every 6 months depending on how dirty they get but it is a good idea to check them every few months.

Using an air purifier in your house can really make a difference with allergies and dust and dander that you see around. If you clean it properly, it will extend the life of the device as well as keep your air clean and free of particles. We are happy to clean them for you, just contact Eckler Cleaning Services and we will give you an estimate on that cost!
