Where’s the Stinky Smell Coming From?

We’ve all been there. No matter where you look, or how much you clean, there is an unidentifiable stink coming from somewhere. We are here to help! There are several uncommonly cleaning items and places that can cause a funky smell in any home.

Under the Sink?

While the garbage disposal is a major cause of household smells, sometimes we forget about the dark space underneath. A common place for cleaners, light bulbs and miscellaneous items to disappear forever, under the sink is the perfect environment for mold and mildew to grow. Unknown leaks and spills can be the cause of these smells and can rapidly cause problems. Eckler Cleaning Services recommends cleaning under your sinks at least twice a year. Need help? Throw Pillows?

Throw pillows can freshen up any space but are a common forgotten item when it comes to cleaning. Between pet dander, hair, dust and sweat, these decorative items can quickly become of source of stink. We recommend washing these pillows at least once a month. Don’t forget to add your bedroom pillows to the wash list too.

Curtains?

Like your throw pillows, curtains are another soft surface that is forgotten during spring cleaning. Pet dander and smells will become trapped in the fabric and stink up an entire room. Washing your curtains can brighten up and refresh any room. We recommend washing curtains at least once or twice a year.

Refrigerator?

You have a box of baking soda in your refrigerator, right? That’s all you need, right? Right?? Contrary to popular belief, the full refrigerator needs cleaned regularly. Between spills, dust, crumbs and moisture, the refrigerator can quickly become a bacteria-filled stinkpot. The most commonly missed places in the refrigerator are inside and under the produce drawers. At Eckler Cleaning, we recommend a full refrigerator cleaning every 3-6 months. Oh, yeah. Change the baking soda out once a month.
