The weather is finally warming up and that means your windows are going to be open more! The pollen this year is horrendous and can really fog up your windows, so now is a great time to clean the entire window, inside and out. Just follow along for tips on how to clean it the most effectively.
First, pick a day that it isn’t going to be too sunny or hot. You’re going to be cleaning windows that will dry quickly and leave behind unwanted streaks if the day is too hot. We recommend starting on the outside and working your way in. First you want to remove all of the screens from the windows.
Once you have the screens removed, you can either take your hose or a bucket of soapy water to each of the screens. Using a rag or cloth, make sure you are scrubbing the entire screen, front and back. After a thorough scrub, rinse the screens off with clean water until there are no more suds. Be careful where you leave them to dry because the screens can rip.
While the screens are drying, go around to the windows with a bucket of soapy water and a rag or microfiber cloth. You may need a ladder for the higher spots, but make sure you are proceeding with caution! Get all the soapy residue off and follow-up with a glass cleaner. We like to then open the windows and clean out the tracks with soapy water. Wipe down until dry and reattach the screens.
Once you have tackled the outside screens and windows, go through and clean all the blinds before cleaning the windows to get rid of any lingering dust and debris. Then clean your inside windows and bask in the spring/summer sunlight!
