Seal your Bathroom Grout

Bathroom and tile installers generally give the client the option to seal or not or seal their bathroom grout. We highly recommend sealing grout for your health, and to extend the life of your new shower.

Protection against Stains

Grout is a porous material typically made with sand, cement, and water. It can easily absorb liquids which can lead to stains from water, soap, or other substances. Sealing the grout creates a protective barrier that helps prevent these stains from penetrating the surface, making it easier to clean and maintain the appearance of your bathroom.

Moisture Resistance

Bathrooms are high-moisture environments, and unsealed grout can absorb moisture, leading to mold, mildew, and other water-related issues. Sealing the grout helps to repel moisture, reducing the risk of these problems and prolonging the lifespan of the grout. Remember: dark space plus water equal mildew. Sealing your grout is one of many things you can do to minimize mold and mildew growth in your bathroom.

Enhanced Durability

Sealing the grout can improve its durability and resistance to wear and tear. It helps to prevent cracking, chipping, and crumbling, ensuring that the grout remains intact and functional for a longer period.

Hygiene and Health

Sealed grout is easier to clean and maintain, reducing the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew. This can contribute to a healthier and more hygienic bathroom environment. In some cases, unsealed grout is damaged, it cannot be cleaned without additional damage.
