When new customers reach out about residential cleaning services, the most frequently asked question is, “What supplies do we need to provide?” With the exception of the toilet brush, At Eckler Cleaning Services, we train our team members with specific tools and cleaning chemicals. OSHA also requires team we have Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and training for chemicals.
Why do you require customers to provide the toilet brush?
The short answer: they are gross.
Requiring the client to provide the toilet brush saves us the hassle and potential contamination issue of having to transport and sanitize toilet brushes. Toilet brushes would spill in company cars and get mixed in the dirty laundry and sent through a washing machine. We can keep team members, the company vehicles, and our work spaces more sanitary by requiring the client provide the toilet brush.
Can you use my vacuum?
The short answer: you don’t want us to use your vacuum.
Currently we have about 14 vacuums in rotation in two different styles. Each team has two vacuums with them. With hundreds of vacuum options on the market, limiting our use to two specific styles helps the team members become my comfortable with the tool.
As a pet friendly cleaning service, we also understand vacuums get dirty quickly! our company vacuums go through regular maintenance and cleaning. Customer vacuums are rarely cleaned properly and almost never receive proper maintenance.
Ultimately, we just aren’t that familiar with your vacuum, it’s attachments, and it’s ability to properly do the job.
Can you use this specific cleaning product?
The short answer: maybe.
Eckler Cleaning Service team members are trained in the science behind cleaning. We have tested most cleaning products and know which options do the best job and are safest to use.
If you want us to use a specific chemical, email maggie@ecklercleaning.com. Cleaning chemicals that are not on our list of approved chemicals need to go through an approval process.
In some cases, a chemical may be approved but not recommended for the surface type. The most common unapproved practice that is requested by clients is vinegar on hardwood floors. pH neutral cleaners are safest for hardwood floors and we will not risk damage to your floors by using vinegar.
The most common reasons why a cleaning product may not be approved are:
- they contain bleach
- they contain ammonia
- they are a carcinogen (can cause cancer)
- the SDS sheet does not contain all the information we need to make a decision
- its a polish, not a cleaner
